Community Kitchen
The vision of Bingley Community Kitchen is to develop a healthier and more food-secure community within the Bingley district by helping children, families, and the elderly within the community to eat well through a range of services, such as the provision of food parcels, slow cooker meal packs and cook and eat sessions.
The core values of community, commitment, respect, and accountability by working in partnership with a range of organisations are the foundation of everything Bingley Community Kitchen accomplishes as a Charity Incorporated Organisation.
The number of attendees at the Market Stall has grown during the cost of living crisis which is facing families and pensioners across the community. All customers attending the market stall are required to demonstrate they meet the agreed criteria:
- families whose children are in receipt of free school meals;
- families who are referred by organisations such as schools, health visitors, social workers, GPs, churches, the local foodbank; and
- families and older people who are in receipt of benefits.
Customers particularly appreciate the opportunity to select a range of fresh, frozen, tinned and dried foods from the weekly market stall. They pay and weekly membership fee for a bag of shopping and also have the opportunity to save with the Credit Union through the FoodSavers programme and a grant from Bradford Council. Registered Charity Number 1194821.
