School Meals & Milk

With effect from 4th November 2024, school meals are priced as follows:

  • Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to universal free school meals.

  • For children in Year 3 to Year 6, school meals are priced at £2.35 per day (£11.75 each week).

  • For children in Nursery, school meals are priced at £2.15 per day (£10.75 each week).

All meals should be paid for via our online payment system, ParentPay.  Money should be added to your child's ParentPay account at the beginning of each week to ensure that there are enough funds for meals taken. Please note that we are no longer able to accept cash as payment for school meals.

Our cook takes great pride in serving varied and nutritious meals which are cooked every day in our own school kitchen.  The menu runs on a three-week rotation.  Our latest menu can be found below.

Lunch Menu November 2024 to March 2025

Children can bring a packed lunch if they prefer.  A drink of water is given to all children, regardless of whether they have dinner or bring a packed lunch.  If your child is going to be late, and you still wish to order dinner for your child, please phone school and let us know as soon as possible.

You can also access more comprehensive menu information via the school meals app, including full allergen information on the dishes our kitchen provides. To access the school meals app on a smartphone, PC or tablet, simply go to schoolmeals.bradford.gov.uk.  Then select our school from the drop-down list, and click on the school logo. This will take you straight to the menu for the current day.

Free School Meal Entitlement

It is very important that all parents/carers on qualifying benefits claim for free school meals for their child/children, via Bradford Council, even if their child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 and is receiving a universal free meal in school. The school receives significant extra funding for each qualifying child, known as ‘Pupil Premium’, which enables us to enhance learning provision. If you think you may be eligible, please contact the school office or visit the Bradford Council website for further information: https://www.bradford.gov.uk/benefits/applying-for-benefits/free-school-meals/

Alternatively, you can contact the Bradford Council Benefits Services via telephone or e-mail for further assistance on 01274 432772 or benefits@bradford.gov.uk

Snacks at Playtime

At present, children up to the age of six receive a free piece of fruit or vegetable at playtime as part of the 'Free Fruit to School Campaign'. Children in Key Stage 2 (Year 3 to Year 6) are encouraged to bring a healthy snack, such as fruit or raw vegetables, for their morning break.

As part of our Whole School Food Policy, we are promoting the contents of a healthy lunch box for pupils and are discouraging parents/carers to include sweets, chocolate bars, crisps and fizzy drinks in a child's lunch box.

**PLEASE REMEMBER THAT WE ARE A NUT FREE SCHOOL**

School Milk

Our school provides a milk scheme that is available to all of our pupils, and we would like to invite you to register your child.  School milk is free for under-5s, and for over-5s it is available at a subsidised price of 31p per day (price from 1st September 2024).  Our milk supplier is Cool Milk.

Each child that registers with Cool Milk will receive a 189ml portion of semi-skimmed milk every day, delivered fresh and chilled to the classroom.  Their school milk will not only provide them with essential nutrients, but as it is rehydrating and energy boosting, it also bridges the gap between breakfast and lunch to help children stay focused. For more information on how milk can benefit children, visit www.coolmilk.com/why-milk-is-great.

 How to register

If your child is under five:

  • Register online at coolmilk.com
  • Register by a Tuesday at 5pm for your child’s free milk to start the following week.
  • Free milk will continue until the Friday before your child’s fifth birthday. You will receive a payment request four weeks before their birthday - if you wish your child to continue to receive school milk, simply make a payment

If your child is entitled to benefit related free school meals:

In conjunction with the Department for Education’s School Food Plan, our school is providing a free 189ml portion of semi-skimmed milk to children who are entitled to benefit-related free school meals.

  • If you would like your child to have milk, please email school office@trinity.bradford.sch.uk so that we can order.  Please do not register your child for a Cool Milk account, or you will be charged for milk.
  • Milk will be provided on an ongoing basis, so please let the school office know if, at any point, your child no longer wishes to have milk, so that the order can be cancelled.
